70-Year-Old Man Killed in Lucerne Motorcycle Crash on Highway 20 near Rosemont Drive

Lucerne, California (June 12, 2021) – A 70-year-old man was killed in a traffic collision that happened Friday afternoon on a highway in Lucerne, as per a local news source.
The crash occurred at around 12:50 p.m. on Highway 20, east of Rosemont Drive, near Pepperwood Grove.
As per the article, the California Highway Patrol’s Clear Lake Area Office said the crash involved a 2009 Harley-Davidson and a 2020 international truck-trailer combination.
Man Killed in Highway 20 Crash in Lucerne
The 70-year-old Vacaville man was riding the motorcycle westbound on the highway, and Ryan Hicks, 50, of Stockton, was driving the semi eastbound.
Authorities said as the vehicles were approaching each other, for unknown reasons, the motorcyclist drifted into the opposing lane and crashed into the truck and trailer.
The rider was rushed to Sutter Lakeside Hospital by a Northshore Fire Protection District ambulance, where he was pronounced dead.
Authorities said that Hicks was not hurt.
Both the rider and the driver were using their safety equipment, and neither was suspected of being intoxicated.
CHP is investigating the cause of the crash.
