36-Year-Old Rohnert Park Man Seriously Injured in Sonoma Collision on Highway 116 near Arnold Drive
Sonoma County, California (June 8, 2021) – A Rohnert Park man was seriously injured Monday afternoon in an alleged DUI crash in Sonoma, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The major injury collision was reported at around 4:15 p.m. Monday, June 7, on Highway 116, just east of Arnold Drive.
CHP said a Honda Accord, driven by Michael Tacchella, 27, of Fremont, was traveling on the wrong side of the road when it collided head-on with a Chevy Silverado, driven by a 36-year-old Rohnert Park man.
One of the vehicles went off the roadway after the impact.
Major Injury Traffic Collision in Sonoma
The Silverado’s driver was transported to a local hospital with major injuries. His name and condition were not immediately released.
Tacchella was airlifted to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital to be treated for major injuries before being arrested on suspicion of DUI. He was eventually booked at the Sonoma County Jail.
Highway 116 was closed in both directions at Arnold Drive during the investigation.
No further details regarding the crash were immediately provided.
The accident remains under investigation.
