Kaulana Miller ID’d as Motorcyclist Killed in Valley Center Crash at Irish Oaks Road and Valley Center Road
Valley Center, California (May 25, 2021) – The motorcyclist who died mid this month following an alleged DUI crash at an intersection in Valley Center has been identified as Kaulana Miller, 26, of Valley Center, according to authorities.
The deadly crash happened at around 1:45 p.m. Sunday, May 16, at the intersection of Irish Oaks Road and Valley Center Road.
Authorities said Miller was riding a motorcycle on the roadway when a pickup truck made a left turn in front of him from Irish Oaks Road onto Valley Center Road. Both vehicles eventually collided.
Deadly DUI Crash in Valley Center, May 16
Miller was transported to Palomar Medical Center in Escondido, where he succumbed to his injuries at 6:45 p.m.
The driver of the pickup, Oswaldo Garcia, 39, has been charged with gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated. He was also charged with two felony counts of DUI causing injury and misdemeanor counts of being an unlicensed driver and getting behind the wheel while his driving privileges were suspended or revoked.
Garcia pleaded not guilty to the charges on Monday.
The accident remains under investigation.
