Modesto, California (May 24, 2021) – A motorcyclist is in serious condition after being struck by a hit-and-run motorist Monday morning in Modesto, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The major injury collision, which was reported at about 5:35 a.m., happened on Highway 33 near Lemon Avenue.

CHP said the motorcyclist was attempting to pass other vehicles when, for unknown reasons, the rider was hit by a car.

The motorcyclist, whose name has not been disclosed, sustained major injuries in the crash.

The involved driver did not stop to render aid to the victim and fled the scene, traveling eastbound on Fruit Avenue.

The suspect’s vehicle was described as a maroon 2004-2005 Ford F-150 with its left side view mirror, left headlight and left fender molding missing. The vehicle also obtained significant left front and left side damage, and the driver door’s window is blown out.

Authorities are still searching for the hit-and-run driver.
