Jose Niebla ID’d as Pedestrian Killed in Compton Crash on East Rosecrans Avenue
Compton, California (May 16, 2021) – Authorities have identified the pedestrian who died after being struck by a vehicle Saturday morning in Compton as Jose Jesus Alvarez Niebla, 70.
The deadly pedestrian accident transpired just after 3:00 a.m. Saturday, May 15, in the 4328 block of East Rosecrans Avenue, just east of South Castlegate Avenue.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a 2008 Nissan Altima, driven by a 60-year-old Compton woman, was heading eastbound on Rosecrans Avenue at 35 mph when it struck Niebla.
Niebla was thrown into the rear of a 2007 Toyota Camry parked on the south curb of Rosecrans Avenue. He ultimately landed in the No. 2 eastbound lane and died at the scene.
Further details regarding the collision were not immediately available.
The crash remains under investigation.
