Inglewood, California (May 1, 2021) – 42-year-old Gustavo Ruelas Jr. has been arrested following a suspected hit-and-run collision that killed two people Wednesday night in Inglewood.

The deadly accident was reported at around 10:35 p.m., on April 28, in the area intersection of Glasgow Avenue and Olive Street.  

The accident happened when police tried to stop a blue Dodge pickup truck driven by Ruelas Jr. on West Century Boulevard near the 405 Freeway at a high rate of speed.

As per the report, Gustavo failed to stop and led the police in pursuit.

The Dodge then exited the interstate at Manchester Boulevard, run a red light before colliding with a white Nissan sedan at the Inglewood intersection.

Due to the impact, two people were pinned inside the wreckage and had to be extricated.

2 Killed in Inglewood Traffic Crash

The Nissan operator, a 27-year-old man, died at the hospital while undergoing treatment.

A 22-year-old woman riding in the Nissan as a passenger was pronounced dead at the scene.

Ruelas Jr. reportedly attempted to escape the crash site on foot, but he was later arrested by authorities on suspicion of murder and fleeing a pursuing peace officer’s motor vehicle, causing death. He remained behind bars Friday in lieu of a $2 million bail

The California Highway Patrol is still investigating the cause of the accident.
