Inglewood, California (April 29, 2021) – A man and woman were killed after a police chase ended in a traffic crash Wednesday night in Inglewood, according to a local news source.

The incident began just after 10:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 28, in the area W. Hillcrest Boulevard and S. Glasgow Avenue when police officers spotted a blue Dodge pickup truck traveling at a high rate of speed on surface streets. The driver then allegedly failed to stop at a red light on Century Boulevard near the 405 Freeway.

The motorist continued on 405 Freeway and the officers attempted to pull him over. The suspect failed to yield and exited onto Manchester Avenue and traveled onto several streets.

As the pickup truck turned onto Glasgow Avenue, it slammed into a white sedan.

Deadly Inglewood Crash at Hillcrest Boulevard and Glasgow Avenue

The driver of the sedan and his female passenger were trapped in the wreckage and had to be extricated by firefighters. Sadly, the passenger was declared dead at the scene of the accident while the driver was taken to a nearby hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. Their names have not been disclosed.

The pursuit suspect fled on foot but was arrested by the officers. The suspect was booked into jail on felony DUI and several other charges.

Police closed the intersection of Hillcrest Boulevard and Glasgow Avenue while the investigation took place.

No further details about the crash were immediately provided.
