Acton, California (April 27, 2021) – 12-year-old Daiki Washington has been identified as the boy who was killed in a two-vehicle collision in Acton on Friday night.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident happened at about 11:05 p.m. April 23, on the Antelope Valley (14) Freeway near Crown Valley Road.

A 2011 Honda Accord was traveling northbound on the highway when it rear-ended a 1999 Honda Accord.

The impact of the collision caused the 1999 Accord to spin out of control, coming to rest facing southbound within the northbound lanes of the freeway.

Washington was a passenger in the 1999 Accord and was transported to Antelope Valley Hospital where he died while undergoing treatment.

A 15-year-old boy in the same vehicle was hospitalized with major injuries.

The police said a 33-year-old woman and a 31-year-old man who were also in the 1999 Accord suffered minor injuries in the crash.

A 23-year-old Lancaster resident who was driving the 2011 Honda was transported to Antelope Valley with minor injuries.

No additional information about the accident was provided.

The CHP is investigating the cause of the accident.
