Man, Woman Seriously Injured in Escondido Crash Involving Semi and Possibly Stolen Car on Interstate 15

Escondido, California (April 22, 2021) – A driver and his passenger were hospitalized with serious injuries after their vehicle crashed into a semi-truck early Thursday morning in Escondido, according to a local news source.
As per the article, the driver is suspected of DUI and driving a possibly stolen vehicle.
The collision occurred just after 4:00 a.m. on northbound Interstate 15, near Del Lago Boulevard.

A 32-year-old Lemon Grove man was driving the Ford, and a 32-year-old woman was his passenger. Both occupants were extricated by firefighters after they were trapped inside the car that was wedged underneath the semi’s trailer. They were then transported to Palomar Hospital in unknown conditions.
The driver of the semi was not hurt.
The California Highway Patrol officers who responded to the scene believed that the Lemon Grove man was under the influence at the time of the accident. They also said that the Ford was suspected to be stolen.
