Palm Springs, California (April 21, 2021) –  Authorities have identified the woman who was killed early Monday morning in an alleged DUI crash in Palm Springs as Lapera Hardister, 30, of Desert Hot Springs.

The deadly wreck happened at about 1:24 a.m. Monday, April 19, at the intersection of Indian Canyon Drive and Garnet Avenue.

According to the authorities, Joshua Woods, 30, of Desert Hot Springs, was driving his car on the roadway when he lost control and slammed into a steel pole.

Passenger Killed in Palm Springs Crash

Hardister, who was a passenger in the car, died in the crash.

The authorities determined that Woods was under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of the accident. He was ultimately arrested and booked into the Smith Correctional Facility in Banning on suspicion of DUI.

No additional information about the accident was provided.

Palm Springs Police Department is investigating the cause of the accident.
