Kern County, CA: Major Injuries Sustained in Fiery Crash on Highway 14 near Red Rock Inyokern Rd

Kern County, California (April 20, 2021) – Authorities are investigating a fiery traffic collision that happened early Tuesday morning in Kern County, resulting in major injuries.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a semi-truck collided with a blue Honda Accord at around 4:28 a.m. on northbound Highway 14, just north of Red Rock Inyokern Road.

The cause and manner of the accident remained unknown at the time of the report.

The semi caught on fire after the impact and became fully engulfed. The fire also spread to the grass near the traffic collision, as per the report.

Firefighters and paramedics responded to the scene to put out the fire and help the motorists.

The report said at least one person suffered serious injuries in the accident. The patient was hospitalized in an unknown condition.

All northbound lanes of the highway remained closed for an unknown duration following the crash.

An investigation into the collision is underway.
