Adalberto Mendez Killed in Sonoma DUI Car Collision on Highway 1
Sonoma, California (April 18, 2021) – Adalberto “Beto” Mendez has been identified as the victim who died following an alleged DUI traffic collision last weekend in Sonoma, a local news source reported.
The fatal crash took place at about 11:30 p.m. on Highway 1 near Valley Ford Road.
The accident happened when a Nissan Frontier, occupied by Mendez and his brother, travelling south on the highway crashed with a Dodge truck heading northbound at the night hours.
A Ford Ranger operated by 25-year-old Winter Nason then struck the damaged vehicles. Due to the impact, the Nissan caught fire, and Mendez was pinned inside the wreckage while his brother Raul Mendez succeeded to rescue himself.

Sadly, Adalberto was pronounced dead at the scene.
Meanwhile, Raul Mendez was hospitalized with severe burns after the wreck.
Authorities affirmed Nason and 47-year-old Joseph Mantua, who was driving the Dodge, were under the influence of alcohol at the collision time. Both suspects were arrested following the mishap.
An investigation into the accident is underway.
