Caltrans Contractor Seriously in Richmond Hit-and-Run Accident on Bayview Avenue On-Ramp to Interstate Highway 580
Richmond, California (April 15, 2021) – A Caltrans contractor was struck and seriously injured by a hit-and-run driver Wednesday morning in Richmond, according to a report by the California Highway Patrol.
At about 5:19 a.m. on April 14, the CHP officers received a report about the accident on the Bayview Avenue on-ramp to westbound Interstate Highway 580.
According to the CHP, the contractor was hit by a dark-colored sedan while preparing to close lanes in a construction area.
The contractor was airlifted to a trauma center with major injuries. The name and current condition of the patient were not disclosed.
The driver of the sedan did not stop to render aid to the pedestrian and fled the scene. There was no description of the suspect.
Authorities are still searching for the hit-and-run driver.
The crash remains under investigation. Anyone with information on the suspect’s whereabouts is asked to call CHP Oakland at (510) 457-2875.
