Richard Frost Killed in Costa Mesa DUI Accident on Newport Boulevard
Costa Mesa, California (April 14, 2021) –The 74-year-old Newport Beach man who died following an alleged DUI hit-and-run collision in Costa Mesa Saturday afternoon has been identified as Richard Frost.
The fatal car accident happened along Newport Boulevard, south of 17th Street, at approximately 4 p.m. on April 10.
As per the report, a vehicle driven by Frost on Newport Boulevard was hit by a Chevrolet Malibu that was involved in another hit-and-run crash.
Meanwhile, Richard then exited his vehicle to stop the other involved motorist from escaping the scene. In the process, he was run over by the Chevrolet operator who fled the scene.

Frost died at the hospital while undergoing treatment of major injuries.
The involved driver, a Malibu man, was later found at a Los Alamitos bar and was determined to have been intoxicated at the time of the collision.
The suspect was then arrested and charged with single felony counts, each of second-degree murder, DUI, two misdemeanor counts of hit-and-run with property damage, and driving with a blood-alcohol level .08% or more.
An investigation into the accident is underway.
