Johannes Sack ID’d as Pedestrian Struck and Killed by Vehicle on Del Mar Heights Road at Mar Scenic Drive in Del Mar
Del Mar, California (April 13, 2021) – The San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the pedestrian who died after being struck by a vehicle Friday afternoon in Del Mar as Johannes Reinhard Sack, 72, of San Diego.
The deadly pedestrian accident happened at about 2:16 p.m. on April 9, on Del Mar Heights Road at Mar Scenic Drive.
Authorities said Sack was crossing from the north side of Del Mar Heights Road to the south side when a 2004 Saturn Vue hit him.
Sack was transported to Scripps Memorial Hospital-La Jolla, where he later succumbed to his injuries at 3:13 p.m.
The involved driver, Raul Garcia, fled the scene but was later located and arrested on suspicion of felony hit and run and other charges.
No additional information about the accident was provided.
An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
