59-Year-Old San Diego Man Dies in Alpine Crash on Interstate 8 near Dunbar Lane
Alpine, California (April 11, 2021) – A driver was killed in a head-on crash caused by another vehicle going the wrong way on Interstate 8 near Alpine early Saturday morning, according to a local news source
The deadly accident happened at around 2:05 a.m. Saturday, April 10, on the westbound side of Interstate 8, just west of Dunbar Lane.
According to the California Highway Patrol, Guillermo Christian Roblero III, 26, of Alpine, was driving eastbound in the westbound lanes of Interstate 8 when his gray Toyota Scion TC collided head-on with a westbound blue Honda CR-V driven by a 59-year-old San Diego man.
Deadly Crash on I-8 in Alpine
The driver of the Honda was pronounced dead at the scene. His name has not been disclosed pending notification of next of kin.
Roblero was transported to Sharp Memorial Hospital in San Diego to be treated for major injuries before being arrested on felony charges of DUI.
The crash remains under investigation by the CHP. Anyone with information regarding the collision is asked to contact the authorities at (619) 401-2000.
