Oakland, California (April 9, 2021) A traffic crash has claimed the life of a 68-year-old Berkeley man Wednesday night in West Oakland, a local news source reported.

The deadly accident occurred at around 11:07 p.m. Wednesday, April 7, in the 2500 block of Campbell Street.

According to authorities, the Berkeley man was driving a Nissan Altima westbound on Campbell Street when, for an unknown reason, he struck a parked trailer.

Emergency personnel responded to the scene and extricated the man from the wrecked Nissan. Sadly, he was declared deceased at the scene. His name has not been released pending notification of next of kin.

Authorities believed speed and intoxication played a role in the collision.
