Oscar Frayer Killed in Fiery San Joaquin County Crash on Interstate 5
NCAA Athlete Oscar Frayer ID’d as 1 of 3 Victim in Fatal Car Crash on Interstate 5 near Walnut Grove Road in San Joaquin County

San Joaquin, California (March 25, 2021) – Grand Canyon University Basketball Star Oscar Frayer, 23, of Lathrop, has been identified as one of the three people who were killed early Tuesday morning in a car accident near Lodi in San Joaquin County.
According to the California highway Patrol, the deadly accident occurred at around 2:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 23 on southbound Interstate 5 near Walnut Grove Road.
Authorities said a California Highway Patrol vehicle was on the shoulder with its emergency lights on, assisting a semi-truck that had broken down when a Subaru SUV veered off the road and hit the back of the CHP vehicle.
As a result of the collision, the Subaru went down an embankment and struck a tree. It then caught fire.
All three occupants of the Subaru, including Frayer and his sister, Andrea Moore, 28, of Stockton, were pronounced dead at the scene.
Two CHP officers sustained major injuries and were airlifted to a hospital. Their current condition was not disclosed.
Alcohol or drugs were not considered a factor in the crash.
The accident remains under investigation.
