Los Angeles, California (March 25, 2021) – An 11-year-old boy was seriously injured after being struck by a hit-and-run driver Wednesday afternoon at an intersection in South Angeles, authorities said.

The major injury accident happened at about 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 24 at the intersection of 42nd Street and McKinley Avenue.

According to the authorities, the boy was running across the street trying to catch up to an ice cream truck when he was hit by a vehicle whose driver fled the scene.

Boy Injured in Los Angeles Pedestrian Accident

The boy was transported to a hospital with major injuries. His name and current condition remained unknown.

Authorities described the suspect’s vehicle as a gray or beige 2002 Chevrolet Tahoe SUV, California license plate No. 6SEZ288. The vehicle had been reported out of the Rampart Division on Sunday.

A reward of up to $25,000 is available for anyone who provides information leading to the suspect’s arrest.
