Berkeley, California (March 23, 2021) – A man was injured after a vehicle drove off the roadway and crashed into a homeless encampment in Berkeley Sunday night, according to a local news source.

The accident occurred at around 8:49 p.m. Sunday, March 21, on West Frontage Road near University Avenue and south of the Sea Breeze Market.

Authorities said a vehicle was traveling in an unspecified direction on Frontage Road when, for unknown reasons, it drifted off the roadway.

The vehicle then plowed through a homeless encampment and struck a man.

First responders arrived at the scene and found the man and a shopping cart trapped underneath the vehicle.
