13 people were killed and Several Others Injured after a Semi-Truck, and a Ford Expedition Collided on SR-115 Near The US-Mexico Border

Holtville, California (March 6, 2021) – The California Highway Patrol has released the identities of the victims of a deadly Tuesday morning Imperial County crash on Highway 115.
What to know about the crash
- The crash took place at 6:15 a.m. Tuesday, March 2, 2021, in Holtville near the US-Mexico Border
- A Big Rig and Ford Expedition SUV were involved in the crash
- The SUV was carrying 25 people at the time of the crash
- 13 people died in the collision
The deadly crash took place at about 6:15 a.m. March 2, 2021, at Highway 115 and Norrish Road, about 10 miles northeast of the US-Mexico border and about 100 miles east of San Diego.

Thirteen people were killed in the crash. All the deceased were in the SUV. Thirteen other people, including the driver of the semi-truck, were injured in the collision. Nine of the injured people are migrants, authorities said. Below is the list of those killed and those injured in the collision.
Fatal Injuries
Jairo Dueñas, 28, of Mexicali, Mexico.
Yesenia Cardona, 22, of Guatemala City, Guatemala.
Authorities have not released the identities of the other 11 deceased people.
Major Injuries
Berlin Cardon, 46, of Guatemala City, Guatemala. Taken to Scripps Mercy Hospital in San Diego
Jose Martinez, 16, of Guerrero, Mexico. Taken to Scripps Mercy Hospital in San Diego
Rene Zelando, 30, of Nayarit, Mexico. Taken to UC San Diego Medical Center
Camillo Rodriguez, 44, of Santa Maria Del Oro, Mexico. Taken to UC San Diego Medical Center
Berti Orozco, 21, of Guatemala City, Guatemala. Taken to UC San Diego Medical Center
Zeterina Mendoza, 33, of Guerrero, Mexico. Taken to UC San Diego Medical Center
22-year-old Esteban Montiel. He was treated at Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs.
24-year-old Jorge Gutierrez Martinez. He was treated at Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs.
Jorge’s and Montiel’s cities of origin are not known.
Moderate Injuries
Avelardo Nava, 19, of Guerrero, Mexico. He was taken to Pioneers Memorial Hospital in Brawley.
Darlin Liliana Robledo, 20, of Tapachula, Mexico. She was taken to El Centro Regional Medical Center.
Manuel Rufino, 39, of Oaxaca, Mexico. He was taken to Pioneers Memorial Hospital in Brawley.
Reportedly, two SUVs with a total of 44 migrants were seen getting into the U.S. One of the SUVs was a red Chevrolet Suburban and was carrying 19 people. El Centro Border Patrol say the Chevrolet caught on fire. The 19 migrants escaped and were found hiding in the brush before being arrested.
