Boron, California (February 25, 2021) – Cedrick Smith III, 31, of Fresno, has been identified as the man who was killed in a rollover accident on Tuesday afternoon in Boron, authorities said.

The deadly accident occurred at about 12:20 p.m., on February 23, on Highway 58, near Boron Avenue off-ramp.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a white 2011 Hyundai Elantra driven by Smith III was traveling westbound on Highway 58. For unknown reasons, Smith lost control of the vehicle and overturned.

Following the collision, the vehicle with three small children ranging in ages from 4 to 7 years old and Doris Marie Drume, 51, came to rest on its wheels in the highway’s centre divider.

Sadly, Smith, who was allegedly not restrained, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Drume and the three children were injured in the accident and were hospitalized for treatment.

An investigation into the accident is underway.
