Yuba City, California (February 24, 2021) – Authorities have identified the motorcyclist who died Sunday morning following a traffic accident in Yuba City as Gabriel John Contreras, 38, of Yuba City.

According to a local news source, the deadly crash took place on Hammonton-Smartsville Road on Sunday, February 21.

As per the report, Contreras was riding a motorcycle westbound on Hammonton-Smartsville Road when he tried to pass a vehicle in front of him.

Contreras reportedly drove into a sweeping left curve and lost control of the bike due to unsafe speed.

Contreras eventually crashed into a dirt embankment. After the crash, Contreras, who was wearing a helmet, was thrown off the bike and onto a rock and tree-lined embankment.

Contreras was pronounced dead at the scene.

Alcohol or drugs were not considered a factor in the crash.

The accident remains under investigation.
