Sacramento, California (February 21, 2021) – A motorcyclist was killed in a Saturday morning traffic accident in Sacramento, authorities said.

The deadly accident occurred at about 10:27 p.m., on February 20, on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard at Franklin Boulevard.

According to the police, the motorcyclist was riding a BMW S1000 motorcycle southbound on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard when he stopped in a left-turn lane for a red light at Franklin Boulevard.

Unfortunately, a 2002 Chevy Tahoe, driven by Alonso Gonzalez Moreno, 23, that was headed northbound on Franklin Boulevard failed to stop at a red light. It struck the motorcycle as it entered the intersection in green light.

The Chevy’s right front hit the motorcycle, causing the rider to be ejected, CHP said.

Sadly, the rider was pronounced dead at the scene.

Moreno was arrested on suspicion of DUI and booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail.

An investigation into the accident is underway.
