Mohamed Ismail ID’d as Man Killed in El Cajon Bicycle Accident on Willow Glen Drive near Dehesa Road

El Cajon, California (February 17, 2021) – The San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the bicyclist who died after being struck by a vehicle last week on Wednesday in El Cajon as Mohamed Rashid Ismail, 32, of La Mesa.
The deadly accident happened at about 7:20 p.m. Wednesday, February 10, on Willow Glen Drive, just south of Dehesa Road.
According to the California Highway Patrol, Ismail was riding an Electra Townie bicycle eastbound on Willow Glen Drive approaching Dehesa Road when he was struck from behind by an Infiniti QX60 SUV that was also heading eastbound.
Ismail, who was not wearing a helmet, was ejecting onto the roadway. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the SUV, a 48-year-old El Cajon man, remained at the scene and cooperated with the authorities.
Alcohol or drugs were not considered a factor in the accident.
The CHP is investigating the crash.
