Isabella Calhoun ID’d as Woman Killed in Spring Valley Crash at Jamacha Road and Sweetwater Road

Spring Valley, California (February 17, 2021) – The San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the woman who died Friday night following a traffic accident at an intersection in Spring Valley as Isabella Calhoun, 21, of Spring Valley.
The deadly crash happened at about 10:09 p.m. Friday, February 12, at the intersection of Jamacha Road and Sweetwater Road.
The incident began when the police noticed a minivan traveling with its light off on Grand Avenue. When the officers ran the plates, they came back stolen.
The officials attempted to pull the car over, but the driver fled. As the minivan approached at the intersection of Jamacha Road and Sweetwater Road, the suspect ran a red light and crashed into another vehicle that was heading eastbound on Jamacha Road, driven by Calhoun.
Paramedics responded to the scene and performed life-saving measures on Calhoun before transporting her to a hospital, where she was declared deceased.
The driver of the stolen vehicle, a 17-year-old teen, fled the scene on foot but was arrested on charges of Gross Vehicular Manslaughter, possession of a stolen vehicle, and other charges related to the accident.
A 16-year-old passenger in the stolen vehicle was also arrested on charges related to a handgun found in the car. Both juveniles were hospitalized for treatment of minor injuries before being booked into Juvenile Hall.
The California Highway Patrol is investigating the accident.
