Breann Hayes among 2 Killed in Thousand Oaks Crash on Highway 101 near Rancho Conejo Boulevard

Thousand Oaks, California (February 9, 2021) – Breann Hayes, 34, was among two people who were killed last week Thursday in a three-vehicle crash in the Newbury Park area of Thousand Oaks.
The accident took place at about 12:10 p.m. Thursday, February 4, on the northbound side of Highway 101, just north of Rancho Conejo Boulevard.
According to a California Highway Patrol report, Gina Garcia, 58, of Ventura, was driving in the middle lane of northbound Highway 101 when her 2008 Kia Sorento veered into the fast lane, where it collided with Chevrolet SUV. After the collision, the two vehicles lost control.
The Kia reportedly swerved back to the slow lane and struck a Toyota sedan. Due to the impact, the Kia drifted off the roadway and crashed into a tree before it overturned onto its roof about 20 feet off the highway.
Deadly DUI Crash on Highway 101 in Thousand Oaks
Two passengers in the Kia, Hayes and Adrian Sapien, 25, of Ventura, were pronounced dead at the scene. Both were wearing their seat-belts at the time of the accident, authorities said.
Garcia was transported to Los Robles Regional Hospital to be treated for major injuries before being arrested on suspicion of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated and DUI causing injury.
No additional information about the accident was provided.
The accident remains under investigation.
