Police Officer Injured in Bakersfield Car Crash at Union Avenue and Alpine Street

Bakersfield, California (February 7, 2021) – A Bakersfield police officer was injured Friday afternoon in a traffic accident at an intersection in Bakersfield, according to a local news source.
The crash took place at about 3:40 p.m. Friday, January 6 at the intersection of Alpine Street and Union Avenue, the authorities reported.
According to the authorities, a civilian car was heading southbound on Union Avenue when the driver allegedly ran a red light and crashed into the patrol vehicle that was heading eastbound on Alpine Street.
As a result of the collision, the police car acquired front-end damage.
The officer sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene by responding paramedics. The name and condition of the victim were not immediately disclosed.
The driver of the civilian car stopped at the scene and was cooperative, police said. Alcohol or drugs were not considered a factor in the accident.
The crash remains under investigation.
