Guadalupe Monreal ID’d as 1 of 2 Killed in Bakersfield Crash at Union Avenue and Brundage Lane

Bakersfield, California (February 2, 2021) – One of the two people who died in an alleged DUI car accident early Sunday morning at an intersection in Bakersfield has been identified as Guadalupe Aguilar Monreal, 46.
The deadly three-car crash occurred at about 2:17 a.m. Sunday, January 31, at the intersection of Union Avenue and Brundage Lane.
One vehicle reportedly crashed into the back of another car that was stopped for a red light. The impact caused both vehicles to overturn into the intersection, where one of them collided with a third vehicle.
The driver of the rear-ended vehicle, Monreal, and the passenger were pronounced dead at the scene.
Two other people sustained critical injuries and were transported to Kern Medical for treatment.
The driver who rear-ended Monreal’s vehicle was identified as Jesus Moran Mendoza, 35, of Bakersfield. Mendoza was arrested on suspicion of two counts of gross vehicular manslaughter and two counts of driving under the influence causing serious bodily injury.
