58-Year-Old Sebastopol Man Killed in Santa Rosa Crash on Highway 101 near College Avenue

Santa Rosa, California (January 29, 2021) – A Sebastopol man was killed Thursday morning in a traffic accident in Santa Rosa, according to a local news source.
The deadly collision happened at about 9:35 a.m. Thursday, January 28, on Highway 101, just north of College Avenue off-ramp, the California Highway Patrol reported.
According to the CHP, a Chrysler 300 was traveling in the middle lane of the freeway when, for unknown reasons, it collided with a Nissan Versa that was to its right.
After the impact, the Nissan spun out of control and crashed into a guardrail on the right shoulder of the highway. It then crashed down an embankment.
The driver of the Nissan, only identified as a 58-year-old Sebastopol man, was declared deceased at the scene. His name was withheld pending notification of next of kin.
Jose Rodriguez, 31, of Santa Rosa, who was the driver of the Chrysler, stopped at the scene and cooperated with police. He was not injured in the accident.
Alcohol or drugs were not considered a factor in the crash.
No additional information about the accident was provided.
An investigation into the accident is underway.
