Sheriff’s Deputy Injured in DUI Car Crash at Road 27 and Avenue 17 in Madera County

Madera County, California (January 22, 2021) – A Madera County Sheriff’s deputy was injured in a collision involving a suspected drunk driver in Madera County on Thursday night.

According to a report by the California Highway Patrol, the accident happened in the area of Road 27 and Avenue 17 just before midnight.

A vehicle driven by Alexis Zarate Aguilar, 24, is reported to have run a stop sign at the intersection and crashed into the driver’s side of the police patrol car.

An officer inside the patrol vehicle sustained minor injuries in the accident.

The CHP responded to the incident and performed a sobriety test on Aguilar. He was later arrested and booked on multiple charges, including felony DUI, felony hit and run and resisting arrest.

No additional information about the accident was provided.

The CHP is investigating the cause of the accident.
