Galen Wallace among 2 Injured in Feather River Canyon Crash on Highway 70 near Rush Creek Road

Feather River Canyon, California (January 20, 2021) – Galen Wallace, 23, of Oroville, was among two people who were injured Monday afternoon in a traffic accident in the Feather River Canyon.
According to a California Highway Patrol report, the major injury collision took place on Highway 70, just west of Rush Creek Road, on Monday, January 18.
A 2020 white Ford Transit 350 van, driven by Wallace, was heading westbound on Highway 70 at an unspecified speed while a 2007 black Ford F-150 truck, driven by Tanya Blust, 43, of Quincy, was traveling eastbound at a posted speed of 50 miles per hour.
As the two vehicles approached each other in a sharp curve, the Ford F-150 crossed the center median into the westbound lane, where it collided head-on the van.
After the impact, both vehicles spun counterclockwise. The van reportedly came to a stop facing west on the north shoulder of Highway 70 while the F-150 came to rest facing northwest and blocking both lanes of the highway.
Authorities said the airbags were deployed in the two vehicles during the crash.
Major Injury Traffic Accident on Highway 70 in Feather River Canyon
Emergency personnel responded to the scene and extricated Wallace, who was unconscious, from the van. He was then airlifted to Enloe Medical Center with major injuries.
Blust had minor injuries.
No further details about the crash were immediately provided.
An investigation into the accident is underway.
