Pedestrian Killed, Michael Roads Arrested in Arden-Arcade Accident at Arden Way and Watt Avenue

Arden-Arcade, California (January 14, 2021) – Michael Roads, 69, of Carmichael, was arrested following an alleged DUI crash that left a pedestrian dead Tuesday evening in Arden-Arcade, Sacramento County.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the deadly accident happened at about 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, January 12, at the intersection of Arden Way and Watt Avenue.
The CHP said a man was crossing the intersection in a crosswalk when he was struck by a GMC pickup truck driven by Roads.
Pedestrian Killed in DUI Crash at Arden Way and Watt Avenue; Michael Roads Arrested
The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. His name was withheld pending notification of next of kin.
Roads stopped at the scene and was cooperative, authorities said. Investigators determined that he was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident.
Roads was ultimately arrested and booked at the Sacramento County jail on suspicion of DUI.
The CHP is investigating the accident.
