Man Killed in Single-Vehicle Crash on Interstate 5 in Lebec

Lebec, California (January 2, 2021) – A man was killed Friday night in a single-vehicle traffic crash in Lebec, according to a local news source.

The deadly accident was reported to the California Highway Patrol officers at about 7:10 p.m. Friday, January 1, on Interstate 5, just north of Frazier Mountain Park Road.

According to the CHP, a Toyota Forerunner was traveling northbound on Interstate 5 when, for unknown reasons, the Toyota veered off the roadway and rolled down a dirt embankment.

The Toyota then caught fire.

Firefighters along with the paramedics responded to the scene and put out the fire. The Toyota driver, only identified as an adult male victim, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities said the driver, whose name was withheld pending notification of family, was the sole occupant of the vehicle at the time of the accident.

No further details about the crash were immediately provided.

An investigation into the accident is underway.
