1 Killed, 1 Critically Injured in Van Nuys Crash on San Diego Freeway near Victory Boulevard Exit

Van Nuys, California (January 1, 2021) – One person was killed and another critically injured in a rollover crash on Friday morning in Van Nuys, authorities said.
The deadly accident happened at about 3:40 a.m. on San Diego (405) Freeway near Victory Boulevard exit.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a vehicle drifted off southbound on the freeway, crashed into a field, and caught fire.
The vehicle reportedly came to a rest near the Woodley Park Archery Range.

One person, who was trapped in the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Another party, who was ejected, was critically injured and was taken to a hospital for treatment.
The number 3 and 4 southbound lanes of the San Diego Freeway at Victory Boulevard were closed for an unknown period due to the accident.
The crash remains under investigation.
