Vallejo, California (December 30, 2020) – A man was killed Wednesday morning in a single-vehicle traffic collision in Vallejo, according to a local news source.

The deadly accident occurred at about 4:40 a.m. on Interstate Highway 80 near the Highway 37 junction, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The CHP said a green GMC Sierra was heading westbound on Highway 80 at approximately 80 miles per hour when the driver made a sudden turn toward the state Highway 37 onramp.

The driver then made another unexpected turn back onto Highway 80, and as a result, the GMC overturned.

Deadly Solo-Car Crash on Highway 80 in Vallejo

The driver, only identified as a 28-year-old man from Portland, Oregon, was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene. His name has not been disclosed pending notification of family.

According to the CHP, a dog inside the vehicle was injured and taken by the Solano County Sheriff’s Animal Control.

Three right lanes of Interstate 80 were closed due to the crash. As of 7:00 a.m., all lanes were reopened to traffic.

An investigation into the crash is underway.
