Garrett Smith among 2 Injured in Antelope Acres Car Crash on Highway 138 near 130th Street

Antelope Acres, California (December 29, 2020) – Garrett Smith, 19, of Lancaster, was among two people who were injured after being involved in a deadly crash Sunday afternoon in Antelope Acres.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal crash happened at about 2:59 p.m. Sunday, December 27, on Highway 138, just west of 130th Street West.
The CHP said Christine Roper, 31, of Mojave, was driving a 2000 GMC Sierra eastbound on State Route 138 when she drifted into the westbound lane to pass a vehicle that was also traveling eastbound.
Roper reportedly swerved to the left to avoid crashing into an oncoming vehicle, and as a result, he lost control of the GMC, which then overturned on the highway.
Two passengers in the GMC were killed in the accident. The two have since been identified as 28-year-old Jeremy Sanders of Lancaster, and 46-year-old Renta Pollard, of Pacoima.
Roper was taken to Antelope Valley Hospital with major injuries while a third passenger, Smith, was transported to Antelope Valley Hospital with minor injuries.
Alcohol or drugs were not considered a factor in the accident.
