Madera County, California (December 20, 2020) – Authorities are investigating a Saturday afternoon fiery head-on crash that killed a 30-year-old man from Madera and left four other parties with major injuries in Madera County.

The deadly two-vehicle accident happened at about 12:30 p.m., on December 19, on Highway 145 north of Avenue 9 1/2.

According to the CHP, a Chevrolet Cruze was headed southbound on the highway when it crossed over painted double yellow lines into the opposing lane and crashed head-on into a northbound Lexus RX300 with two passengers.

Following the collision, the Lexus, driven by a Fresno woman, spun clockwise and came to a rest on the east shoulder while the Chevrolet went off the east side of the road and burst into flames.

Fatal Highway 142 Crash

Sadly, a 30-year-old man in the Lexus was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Lexus and another female passenger from Reedley, both aged 31, were taken to Community Regional Medical Center for treatment.

The Chevrolet’s driver, Parminder Singh, 19, and his 23-year-old passenger, both from Kerman, also were hospitalized at Community Regional Medical Center.

Drugs or alcohol were not suspected of having played a role in the mishap.
