1 Injured in Bakersfield Car Crash on Highway 99 near California Avenue

Bakersfield, California (December 15, 2020) – At least one person was injured in a traffic collision on Monday morning in Bakersfield.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident happened on Highway 99 just south of California Avenue at about 11 a.m.
A Peterbilt hay truck was heading southbound on the highway when it came to a stop due to a prior non-injury crash that was blocking one of the lanes. A Chevrolet Silverado was stopped behind the hay truck.
A short time later, a Hino box truck was slowing for traffic when it was rear-ended by a Freightliner truck.
The impact of the crash sent the box truck off the freeway where it crashed into a chain-link fence.
The Freightliner continued and crashed into the back of the Chevrolet, pushing it forward into the rear of the hay truck.
The driver of the Peterbilt truck complained of pain and was treated at the scene.
No additional information about the accident was provided.
An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
