Oakland, California (December 10, 2020) – The motorcyclist who died in a hit-and-run accident Monday night at an intersection in Oakland has been identified as Richard Wiltz, 48, of Antioch.

The deadly crash took place at around 5:08 p.m. Monday, December 7 at the intersection of 24th and Market streets.

According to the authorities, Wiltz was riding his Kawasaki EX250 motorcycle westbound on 24th Street when, for unknown reasons, he collided with a purple BMW 650i that was traveling southbound on Market Street.

As a result of the crash, Wiltz was thrown from his bike and landed onto the roadway.

Deadly Motorcycle Accident at 24th and Market Streets

Paramedics responded to the scene and took Wiltz to a local hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.

The driver of the BMW did not stop to render aid to the victim and fled the scene on foot. There was no description of the driver.

It is undetermined whether alcohol or drugs played a role in the collision.

A reward of up to $10,000 is available for anyone who provides information leading to the arrest of the BMW driver.
