Jimmie Adkison II ID’d as Person Killed in Redding Accident at Lake Boulevard and Oasis Road

Redding, California (December 10, 2020) – The Shasta County Coroner’s Office has identified the person who died following a two-vehicle crash Tuesday afternoon in north Redding as Jimmie Junior Adkison II, 19, of Redding.
The deadly crash happened at about 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 8, at the intersection of Lake Boulevard and Oasis Road, according to a local news source.
As per the report, Robert Christopher Maughs, 24, of Shasta Lake, was driving a Toyota 4Runner northbound on Lake Boulevard when he allegedly ran a red light and crashed into a southbound Buick Riviera that was turning left on a green light.
As a result of the collision, the Toyota overturned and struck a light pole on the northeast corner of the Redding intersection.
Adkison, who was riding as a passenger in the Toyota, was trapped in the wreckage and had to be extricated by firefighters. Authorities said Adkison was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Buick, Cassandra Petty, 31, of Redding, sustained minor injuries in the crash.
Maughs was taken to a hospital for treatment of his injuries before being booked into jail on suspicion of DUI causing injury and driving on a suspended license.
The accident remains under investigation.
