Joseph Granados Arrested For DUI after Crash that Injured Elderly Pedestrian in Watsonville
88-Year-Old Aptos Man Seriously Injured in Watsonville Pedestrian Accident on Freedom Boulevard near Mariner Way

Watsonville, California (December 8, 2020) – Joseph Granados, 29, of Watsonville, was arrested following a traffic accident that left an elderly pedestrian seriously injured Friday afternoon in Watsonville, Santa Cruz County, according to a local news source.
At about 1:51 p.m. Friday, December 4, California Highway Patrol officers received a report about the pedestrian accident on Freedom Boulevard, just west of Mariner Way.
According to the CHP, an 88-year-old Aptos man was walking across the street to check his mail when he was struck by a 1997 Honda driven by Granados.
The Honda then hit mailboxes along the south shoulder of the road.

The pedestrian suffered major injuries and was transported to Dominican Hospital in Santa Cruz and then flown to Santa Clara Valley Medical Center in San Jose. His name and current condition were not disclosed.
Granados was uninjured and stopped at the scene to cooperate with the police. Authorities determined that he was under the influence of drugs at the time of the accident. He was arrested on suspicion of DUI.
The crash remains under investigation.
