Aptos, California (December 7, 2020) – An 88-year-old Aptos man was hit and seriously injured by a vehicle on Friday afternoon in Aptos, authorities said.

The major injury pedestrian accident occurred shortly before 2:00 p.m., on December 4, on Freedom Boulevard.

According to the police, a vehicle, driven by Joseph Granados, 29, of Watsonville, struck the Aptos man while he was walking to his mailbox. The car then hit nearby mailboxes.

Aptos Man Injured in Pedestrian Crash on Freedom Boulevard

The pedestrian sustained major injuries and was taken to Dominican Hospital in Santa Cruz. He was later flown to Santa Clara Valley Medical Center in San Jose.

Granados, who was not injured, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs.

An investigation into the accident is underway.
