Derrick Piper Arrested For DUI After Crash that Injured Passenger on Copper Hill Road in Saugus

Saugus, California (December 2, 2020) – Derrick Piper, 28, of Canyon Country, was arrested following an alleged DUI crash that left a passenger injured at an intersection in Saugus, according to a local news source.

The accident happened at around 6:48 a.m. Friday, November 27, on Copper Hill and Haskell Canyon Roads.

As per the report,  Piper was driving a silver BMW on the roadway when he crashed into a silver BMW at the intersection.

Emergency crews responded to the scene and found two men unresponsive inside the BMW. Two male adults and a female adult were standing next to the wrecked BMW.

A man who was in the front passenger seat of the BMW sustained moderate injuries in the crash. He was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Authorities determined that Piper was under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of the accident. He was arrested and booked into the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station’s jail for DUI causing injury.

The accident remains under investigation.
