Castaic, California (November 30, 2020) – One person was killed and several others injured in a wrong-way car crash on Saturday morning in Castaic, according to a local news source.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the deadly two-vehicle accident happened at about 2:45 a.m., on November 29, in the northbound lanes of Interstate 5, south of Templin Highway.

A 2016 Ford Focus, driven by Guadalupe Padillaperez, 22, was headed southbound on the roadway when it allegedly drove into northbound lanes where it collided head-on with an oncoming 2019 Honda Accord in the carpool lane, the CHP said.

Several Injured in Fatal Interstate 5 Crash

One person sustained fatal injuries in the accident.

Three people, Chino Hills men in their 20s, in the Honda were injured, two seriously, the officials said.

Padillaperez was arrested on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter DUI with gross negligence. Padillaperez is being held in lieu of $200,000 bail.

The crash remains under investigation.
