14-Year-Old Boy Killed in Visalia Skateboard Accident on Riggin Avenue near Shirk Road

Visalia, California (November 3, 2020) – A juvenile skateboarder died after being struck by a vehicle Friday night in northwest Visalia, according to a local news source.
The deadly accident happened at about 9:45 p.m. Friday, October 30, on Riggin Avenue, just west of Shirk Road.
Authorities said a 14-year-old boy was riding his skateboard on Riggin Avenue when he was hit by a Ford that was heading westbound on Riggin toward Highway 99.

The boy was taken to Kaweah Delta Medical Center, where he later succumbed to his injuries. His name was withheld pending notification of family.
The driver of the Ford, Heath Burkhead, 29, stopped at the scene and cooperated with the investigators.
An investigation into the accident is underway.
