Manasseh Marion Dies after Wrong-Way Crash on 405 Freeway in Long Beach

Long Beach, California (October 31, 2020) – Manasseh Marion, 32, of Long Beach, has been identified as one of the two persons who were killed in a wrong-way crash that left seven other people injured on Saturday morning in Long Beach, authorities said.

The deadly multi-vehicle accident transpired at about 3:50 a.m. on southbound 405 Freeway near Palo Verde Avenue.

According to the California Highway Patrol, several vehicles collided on the freeway. 

One of the involved vehicles was reportedly driving the wrong way when the accident transpired.

At least two people were ejected from one of the vehicles, the officials said.

Kaylee Perez, 23, of Los Angeles, who was the alleged wrong-way driver, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Perez’s passenger Manasseh Marion, 32, of Long Beach, was also declared dead at the scene.

At least seven people were injured in the accident. Two patients sustained major injuries, and five others with minor injuries.

The freeway’s northbound lanes were blocked at Palo Verde Avenue for an unknown period due to the mishap.

An investigation into the collision is underway.
