Bakersfield, California (October 29, 2020) – A boy who was injured in a crash on Highway 99 in Bakersfield on Wednesday morning has died.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal collision happened on Highway 99 near Rosedale Highway shortly before noon.

The authorities said traffic came to a complete stop on southbound Highway 99. A car carrying a 10-year-old boy was stopped behind a big rig in the no. 33 lane.

A second big rig reportedly failed to slow down for traffic and crashed into the car from behind.

The boy who was riding in the car was transported to an area hospital where he died while undergoing treatment.

A woman who was driving the car was hospitalized with major injuries.
