Santa Clara, California (October 21, 2020) – Authorities are investigating a Monday afternoon traffic accident that killed a 74-year-old homeless man in Santa Clara.

The deadly pedestrian accident transpired at about 4:30 p.m., on October 19, at El Camino Real and Halford Avenue.

According to the police, the man was sleeping on the ground near the left edge of a marked parking stall when the driver of a 2019 Toyota Camry pulled into a stall to the left of the man.

The driver reportedly backed out of the stall and unfortunately struck the sleeping pedestrian.

Fatal Santa Clara Pedestrian Accident at El Camino Real and Halford Avenue

Sadly, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The involved driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the authorities.

Drugs or alcohol were not suspected of having played a role in the accident.

The crash remains under investigation.
