La Jolla, CA: Woman Injured in 2-Car Crash at Whale Watch Way and Prestwick Drive

La Jolla, California (October 17, 2020) – Authorities are investigating a Friday afternoon two-vehicle accident that left a 31-year-old woman with a fractured neck in La Jolla.

The accident occurred at around 4:15 p.m., on October 16, in the 8500 block of Whale Watch Way at Prestwick Drive.

According to the police, a 2015 Toyota Prius, driven by the woman, was traveling eastbound on Whale Watch Way when it ran a stop sign at Prestwick Drive and made a left turn where a 2018 Chevy Traverse broadsided it.

The Chevy, driven by a 44-year-old man, was traveling northbound on Prestwick Drive at the time, the officials said.

The woman sustained a fractured neck and was later hospitalized for treatment.

Alcohol was considered a factor in the crash.

More details about the mishap were not immediately available.

An investigation into the accident is underway.
